Good explanation of basic concepts

I am an electrical engineer learning for the first time about electrical machinery. This book has proven very valuable to me in explaining basic concepts of electromagnetics as applied to this subject. At first I was thrown off by the large size of the book and the advanced material it contains but I am finding that the author really does take the time to explain things carefully.

From electric machine basics to high performance modeling and control

This book starts from the very basics, the fundamentals of DC and AC machine physics. Then, the models of the machine are developed, without skipping steps, and advanced phenomena are explained with easy to follow derivations. The applied control techniques are rigorously developed with the practical aspects covered (especially in the starred sections). Advanced control techniques are included along with block diagrams that can be directly constructed in Mathwork's Simulink(r) simulation platform.
I had the pleasure of taking this course from the author directly during my graduate studies, but I do believe the book to be a very good independent read as well.
